Covering your snowmobile (when not in use) can help to keep it clean. Also, it will prevent your snowmobile from environmental conditions that might damage it.
I have faced some problems and shortcomings in snowmobile covers that I always wanted to be resolved by the manufacturers. Based on my decades of experience, I have listed the best snowmobile covers that you can buy. I have also mentioned if any product has a shortcoming. In this article, I will tell you which snowmobile cover is best for you and why.
Before buying a cover for your snowmobile, you must know the length of your snowmobile.
The length does not include skis. Measure from the front hood to the rear bumper.

Best Budget Picks
Lunatic L-17706 is the most budget-friendly cover that you can get right now. It costs only $25 on Amazon. The fabric of this cover is 300 Denier, which is a good quality polyester. Of course, you can not expect it to bear outdoor conditions, but if you only need a snowmobile cover for indoors, it will work.
If you have $15 more to spend on your snowmobile’s protection, I would like to steer you towards 300 Denier Snowmobile cover. At $80 on Amazon, the Denier Fabric Snowmobile Cover offers better protection than the Lunatic L-1706. Both of them are made of the same fabric. But the 300 Denier is treated to bear outdoor conditions, and it also has air vents to prevent any mildew inside the cover.
If you have a few more bucks to spend, Mayhour snowmobile cover and Budge SM-3 are some other options that you can get for about $50 to 60.
Best Overall Picks
If you can scratch $40 more for a snowmobile cover, Kemimoto 600D is the best choice. It is made of 600D oxford fabric, which is further treated to last longer and provides all-weather protection.
It has an elastic hem with straps and buckles to secure the cover on the snowmobile. It fits so well that I never had any problem with this cover while trailering.
You can use this cover for indoors, outdoors, trailering, and off-season storage.
It costs $100 on Amazon, and the quality of the product plus the long-lasting factor makes it that much worth it.
If you do not want to spend $100, then there is another option for you. It is the Rain-X snowmobile Cover. It costs less than $60 on Amazon and works well as an all-rounder.
It is made out of good-quality polyester, which is breathable and suitable for off-season storage. It has straps and an elastic hem to secure the cover on the snowmobile. You can use this cover indoors, outdoors, for trailering, and for off-season storage. Not only that, but the manufacturer also claims a seven-year warranty of this cover. I bet no other snowmobile cover comes with that much at the same price.
Best Upgraded Picks
If your budget is very flexible and you are looking for the best snowmobile cover out there, the OEM covers are the best for your snowmobile. They are made out of high-quality materials, which makes them perfect for any use. Also, there are no size issues with OEM covers. I have mentioned two OEM covers that I have used personally.
Ski-Doo MXZ snowmobile cover is for its MXZ series. It is made of 600 Denier fabric, and it is further treated to bear outdoor weather conditions.
It is the best cover if you want to trailer an MXZ series snowmobile. You can use this cover for indoors, outdoors, trailering, and off-season storage. It costs $270 on Amazon.
Just like Ski-Doo, Polaris also offers covers for their snowmobiles. Polaris RMK cover is for their RMK series snowmobiles. It is made of army duck canvas, which can easily bear outdoor weather conditions. You can use it indoors, outdoors, trailering, and off-season storage. It also costs $290 on Amazon.
Every snowmobile manufacturer offers covers for their snowmobiles. They fit well and are of high quality. If you have the budget, I would recommend you always get the OEM snowmobile cover. You can check some OEM covers for snowmobiles on Amazon. They usually cost somewhere between $150 to $300.
How did I curate this list?
Every snowmobile cover that I have mentioned in this article has been in my possession. During my whole snowmobile experience, I have come to know how essential a snowmobile cover is.
A cover protects your snowmobile from dirt, rain, sunlight (UV rays), scratches, dents, and rust. If a snowmobile cover works well against dirt and rain, it does not mean it will do the same against strong winds.
To solve this confusion, I have listed all the reliable products and sorted them into categories.
Below you can check out the categories and find the best snowmobile cover that also lies within your budget.
Best Budget Snowmobile Cover – Under $50
As they are budget picks, you can not expect much from them. After all, you get what you pay for.
They work good for indoors, but you can not use them for trailering or outdoors.
Budge SM-3 – Check latest price on Amazon
This budget snowmobile cover from Budge comes in three different sizes: 115 inches, 130 inches, and 145 inches long. All three sizes have the same width (51 inches) and same height (48 inches).
It is made out of waterproof polyester, which makes it best for indoors. It is better not to use it outdoors because polyester will get damaged by UV-rays of the sun and harsh weather conditions.
The elastic hem of this snowmobile cover is tight. It makes it difficult to put on the snowmobile cover. You do not want to pull too hard, or you will end up breaking the elastic hem.
This snowmobile cover is not the right one for trailing. Although this has straps and buckles to keep the snowmobile cover secure, the seams do not bear the tension caused by winds at high speeds.
My only gripe with this cover is the size issues. I ordered the 115 inches long cover, but it hardly fits my Polaris Rush 600 that is 110 inches long.
It costs $80 on Amazon, and comes with a storage bag. If you want a snowmobile cover for indoor use, it is a good deal.
Lunatic L-17706 – Check latest price on Amazon
Lunatic L-17706 is the cheapest cover I have found on Amazon. At first, I did not think it would last a season, but I still use it indoors.
Unfortunately, it is available in only one size that is 107 inches long, 29 inches wide, and 45.3 inches in height. That includes small-sized snowmobiles and a few medium-sized snowmobiles.
It is made of 190 Denier polyester that is similar to the 300 Denier but a little cheap.
It has an elastic hem, but there are no straps because of its intended in-door use.
At $21 on Amazon, it is the best budget-friendly snowmobile cover that also comes with a storage bag. You will not get any better deal at this price.
Best Overall Snowmobile Covers
I have found two covers that stand out in every aspect. They can be used indoors, outdoors, for trailering, and for the offseason. Both of these covers are durable enough to last three to four seasons.
Rain-X 805452 – Check latest price on Amazon
Just like automobile vehicles, Rain-X is a reputable brand for snowmobile covers. This cover by Rain-X can fit up to 125 inches long snowmobiles. It is only available in one size, and if your snowmobile is longer than 125 inches, it will not fit.
It looks ordinary because of polyester fabric, but it is better than the competition while coming at the same price.
It has an elastic hem and straps to secure the cover on the snowmobile. The fitting is snug, and it does not get affected by strong winds. It makes it a worthwhile option to consider for trailering.
The fabric is breathable, which makes it the best choice for off-season storage. It will maintain the airflow inside the cover and prevent any mildew or moisture.
The manufacturer claims a seven-year warranty. I had a few encounters with their customer support, and they were not supportive at all.
I am doubtful if they will replace your product if something happens to it even after a year.
I like the storage bag that comes with the cover. The bag is made of the same fabric as the cover. So, it will last just as long as the cover.
It costs less than $60 on Amazon and competes neck to neck with other covers that cost up to $100.
Kemimoto 600D – Check latest price on Amazon
This snowmobile cover from Kemimoto can fit snowmobiles from 119 inches up to 127 inches long.
This snowmobile cover is made out of heavy-duty 600D oxford fabric coated with waterproof TPU film. This coating helps in outdoor weather conditions and protects against snow, dust, rain, and UV rays.
All the seams on this snowmobile cover are double sewn, and they can easily take the stress caused by strong winds. The elastic hem is not too tight but tight enough to offer a secure fit.
This snowmobile cover also has straps and buckles to keep it from flying off when trailering your snowmobile. It also has a fuel tank access flap that uses a zipper (instead of velcro on some budget covers). It helps the snowmobile cover to stay in one piece when you are trailering on a highway.
At $100 on Amazon, this snowmobile cover offers premium quality, durable double stitching, and comes with a storage bag. In my opinion, it is better than Budge SM-8.
Best Snowmobile Covers for Outdoors
If you want to store your snowmobile outdoors, budget snowmobile covers are not going to cut it. The budget snowmobile covers will get damaged by harsh weather conditions and UV rays of the sun. Here are some reliable options that you want to consider when looking for snowmobile covers for outdoor.
300 Denier Snowmobile Cover – Check latest price on Amazon
300 Denier snowmobile cover can fit up to 125 inches long snowmobiles. Unfortunately, there are no other sizes available.
As the name says, it is made of 300 Denier fabric with a polyurethane coating. The fabric is durable enough to bear different weather conditions for up to two seasons. That includes rain, dust, winds, and even the UV rays of the sun.
For a secure fit, it has an elastic hem and four straps with buckles. They help to keep the cover snug to your snowmobile.
If you use it indoors, you do not need to worry about any moisture build-up because of the air vents. They help to maintain the airflow to your snowmobile. It also helps with off-season storage because if any moisture builds up inside, it will make the metallic parts rust.
The seams are not strong enough to bear the strong winds of highways. I recommend if you ever need to use this cover for trailering, do it at slow speeds.
At $80 on Amazon, it is the perfect bang for the buck. It has all the features and protection that you will need to store your snowmobile indoors or outdoors.
SnowShield Snowmobile Cover – Check latest price on Amazon
This cover by SnowSheild came up while I was looking for an off-season cover. It comes in two sizes: large and X-large. The large size of this cover can fit small to medium-sized snowmobiles up to 90 inches long. And the X-large size can fit up to 140 inches long snowmobile, which includes medium to large-sized snowmobiles.
It is made of waterproof and UV-treated polyester that protects a snowmobile from all weather conditions.
Although it has straps and an elastic hem, I still do not recommend this cover for trailering because of poorly sewn seams.
The straps are adjustable, and if your snowmobile is a bit shorter than the cover, you can adjust that yourself. It has adjustable tension panels that make the fitting more snug.
Like 300 Denier, there are two air vents to reduce moisture buildup and wind lofting.
I would recommend it for indoors and off-season use only. I have experienced that its color fades if you use it outdoors. It is okay if you want to store your snowmobile outdoors for a few days, but not always.
For $70, it is a good snowmobile cover that you can use to store your snowmobile indoors or off-season.
Raider 02-7718 SX-Series – Check latest price on Amazon
Raider 02-7718 is an SX series snowmobile cover that comes in two sizes, large and X-large. The large size is 110 inches long, and the X-large size is 130 inches long.
Just like the DT series, the fabric is waterproof polyester. It is good enough to bear harsh weather conditions. It is also UV treated, which protects the snowmobile from UV rays without getting itself damaged.
To secure the cover on the snowmobile, it has an elastic hem and a strap with a buckle.
The manufacturer says this cover is not designed for trailering, like the DT series. Even I won’t recommend using it for trailering. But if you need a snowmobile cover for indoor or outdoor storage, this is one of the best you will find on the market.
I have used this cover for four seasons, and it was still in good shape. It is better than its competitors when it comes to durability.
It comes with a storage bag that comes in handy in many situations.
It costs $45 Amazon, and it has everything you will need in a cover to protect your snowmobile.
Best Snowmobile Covers for Indoors
There is less protection needed indoors as compared to outdoors. But still, there are some crucial factors such as dust/sand particles, scratches or dents while manoeuvring, and moisture buildup. So, below are the ones that I can trust and recommend to anyone.
Mayhour Snowmobile Cover – Check latest price on Amazon
When it comes to indoor snowmobile covers, Mayhour is a well-known brand. It measures 145 inches long, 51 inches wide, and 48 inches high. It is made out of 210 Oxford fabric. Mayhour claims that this snowmobile cover is an excellent choice for all types of weather conditions.
It has an adjustable elastic hem. Unfortunately, there are no straps and buckles to secure this cover to your snowmobile. In strong winds, this cover is going to have a hard time staying on your snowmobile. So, I would not recommend you to use it for trailering.
This snowmobile cover comes in black color only. I would suggest you avoid using this cover in direct sunlight. There are two reasons behind it: the black color that absorbs all the heat and the sheer quality of the fabric.
In short, it is an excellent indoor snowmobile cover, and you can use it for trailering at low speeds and for short distances. For speeds above 50 mph, I would not recommend this cover.
At $45 on Amazon, this snowmobile cover comes with a 1-year warranty but no storage bag. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an indoor snowmobile cover to use in their garage or shed.
Budge SM-8 – Check latest price on Amazon
Like my previous mention, this snowmobile cover also comes in three sizes, 115 inches, 130 inches, and 145 inches long. The width and height are the same for all three variants that are 51 inches wide and 48 inches in height.
It is made of waterproof polyester, just as other covers by BUDGE. Like the SM-3, it works well indoors. I do not recommend using it outdoors because the polyester gets negatively affected by outdoor conditions.
The elastic hem and the straps work well to keep the cover securely fit on the snowmobile. The straps have buckles that prevent any slip-off.
To quickly access the fuel tank, it has a flap on the top. It is an additional feature than the SM-3. The flap is held with velcro that makes it not suitable for trailering. The velcro is not strong enough to keep the flap from opening when strong winds hit the cover.
It is much better as compared to the SM-3 because it lasts longer. For $91, it is expensive, but it is easier to put on without breaking your snowmobile.
Classic Accessories Deluxe Snowmobile Cover – Check latest price on Amazon
I am sure you have never heard of Classic Accessories when it comes to snowmobile covers. I found this cover on Amazon a couple of years ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, it only comes in two sizes: 118 inches and 127 inches long. So, if you have a Skidoo Summit X (or something similar) in length, you can skip this snowmobile cover.
This cover is made of waterproof ProtekX fabric, which is similar to the one used in aprons. This fabric is best for outdoor weather conditions such as rain, strong winds, and dust. But still, it does not provide any UV protection.
I would not suggest using it under sunlight. I have used it for a season outdoors, and the color has started to fade earlier than I expected.
This cover has an elastic hem along with adjustable straps for a secure and snug fit. When compared to other snowmobile covers, it has adjustable-tension panels. They improve the general fitting and prevent the snowmobile cover from flying off while trailering.
It has reflective markings on the rear side of the cover that works as guides in the dark. It is not a necessary feature, but it helps with safety in the dark so, I have to mention it.
I felt the fabric at the handlebars a bit weak. So, I recommend not to tighten up the tension panel too much. It will reduce the chance of getting the fabric shredded by strong winds while trailering.
For $100, this cover comes with a storage bag, and the manufacturer offers a 3-year warranty. My only gripe with this snowmobile cover is that it can easily get damaged when using outdoors in direct sunlight. I recommend you avoid using it outdoors for long periods.
Best Snowmobile Cover for Trailering
Not all covers can bear the tension that strong winds put on the seams and joints while trailering. I have used many snowmobile covers for trailering. But I have found only one that is as reliable as the OEM ones.
Raider 02-7746 DT-Series – Check latest price on Amazon
Raider 02-7746 comes in three sizes, medium, large, and X-large. They are 100, 118, and 127 inches long, respectively.
It is made of heavy-duty polyester, which is waterproof and water-resistant. This fabric has all the strength to bear harsh weather conditions.
There are air vents that allow the air to flow inside and reduce any mildew build-up. It makes this cover perfect for off-season and indoor storage too.
It has an adjustable hem, not the elastic one, and it is very convenient to put the cover on the snowmobile. Even the straps and buckles are adjustable. This adjustability makes it best for trailering because you can tighten up the cover for a snug fit.
In my experience, it is the best universal cover for trailering. The seams are well sewn. I have used this cover many times for trailering, and they never got shredded, as I have experienced with the BUDGE covers.
It costs $100 on Amazon, and it is the best cover I have ever used for trailering. It comes with a storage bag that comes in handy. I always prefer this over the BUDGE SM-8, as the difference is only $10.
Best Snowmobile Cover for Off-Season Storage
When storing a snowmobile for summers, you need a breathable cover. Otherwise, moisture will build up inside the cover, and it will cause the metallic parts to rust. There are many options on the market, but this one is the best I have ever used.
Coverify Snowmobile Cover – Check latest price on Amazon
This cover by Coverify comes in three sizes: medium, large and x-large.
The width and height are the same for all the sizes that are 51 inches in width and 48 inches in height. The length varies, that is 130 inches for medium, 143 inches for large, and 157 inches for x-large size.
It is made of marine-grade fabric, which helps it to bear harsh weather conditions. This fabric is also UV treated, so if you ever store your snowmobile under direct sunlight, it will provide decent protection.
It has three adjustable tension panels and two elastic hems that help to keep the cover snug to the snowmobile while trailering. It also has double-sewn seams. All these things make it a perfect choice for trailering.
It has two air vents to prevent any moisture build-up inside the cover. So, if you want to use it for the off-season, you can trust it.
To guide you in the dark, it has reflective markings at the front and rear. For a snowmobile cover, it only helps when your snowmobile is parked outdoors at night.
For $50 on Amazon, it comes with a decent-quality storage bag. It offers great indoor, outdoor, and offseason protection. And, you can also use it for trailering.
Best OEM Snowmobile Covers
OEM covers are expensive and all the way worth buying. They are made for specific series and models, which ensures perfect fit.
The fabric, straps, and other materials used in them are of the best quality. You can use them indoors, outdoors, for trailering, and for off-season storage.
Ski Doo snowmobile cover for MXZ series – Check latest price on Amazon
This cover by Ski-Doo is for MXZ series snowmobiles. I always prefer OEM snowmobile covers because they do not have size issues like other cheap Chinese covers. And once you have used the OEM cover, you will never go back to the cheap covers.
This snowmobile cover is made of 600 Denier solution-dyed fabric. This treatment makes this cover water repellant and weather resistant.
The fabric of the cover is durable and bears strong winds. It is one of the best covers for trailering if you have a snowmobile from the MXZ series by Ski-Doo.
This cover has a strapless design that clips onto the tunnel of your snowmobile.
I found this snowmobile cover best for storage and trailering purposes. It is durable and lasts much longer than the after-market covers I have previously used.
It costs $250 on Amazon. It is a reliable and long-lasting cover. The issue is that it only fits the MXZ series of Ski-Doo. But Ski-doo has made separate covers for different snowmobile models. If you have any other Ski-Doo snowmobile, you can search for the model on Amazon.
Polaris cover for RMK series – Check latest price on Amazon
This cover fits the Polaris RMK series and SKS series. It is made of Army Duck canvas fabric which is strong enough to bear different weather conditions, including harmful UV rays of the sun.
Like other snowmobile covers that made my recommendation list, it also has an elastic hem and adjustable straps for a secure and snug fit.
There is a zipper flap to access the fuel tank. It makes refueling your snowmobile a breeze when trailering.
In my testing, the adjustable straps are easier and smooth to use when compared to the universal cheap Chinese covers. They do not get stuck when you need to pull the strap. I think this is mainly due to the high-quality strap Polaris uses with these snowmobile covers.
In short, it is a durable and long-lasting cover that is also perfect for outdoor storage. At $270 on Amazon, it is expensive. This snowmobile cover is only for the RMK and SKS series from Polaris.
If you want an OEM cover for any other snowmobile, you can search for the specific model on Amazon.
In the end...
All of these covers are good in their way. You have to pick according to your usage.
The Lunatic L-17706 is the most budget-friendly cover for your snowmobile. It costs only $25 on Amazon, and it is a good option for indoor use.
At $80 on Amazon, 300 Denier stands out when it comes to outdoor usage.
Raider SX series cover costs $50 on Amazon, and it is an excellent cover for indoors.
For trailering, the Raider DT series is the best I have ever used. It costs $100 on Amazon.
If you prefer OEM accessories, Ski-Doo, Yamaha, and Polaris have model-specific covers for snowmobiles. Such as the Polaris RMK series cover and the Ski-Doo MXZ series cover.
I have done my best to mention all the goods and bad about these covers. I hope it will help you decide which one you should choose.
